Why Get Involved?

A team offering. A vision offering. A generous offering. A liberty offering.

What is Liberty Offering? It’s a once a year sacrificial offering that our entire church gets involved in. Children, youth, adults - everyone brings their very best offering.

How do you think it helps us as individuals? It causes us to cast off restraint and proclaim our liberty. It’s the one time a year that we stretch and extend ourselves beyond our comfort level, which in turn makes us bigger, better and more generous givers.

How does it benefit our church when we do this? Over the years; we have paved parking lots, put roofs on buildings, bought carpet, installed new church signs, put in big screens, purchased sound and video equipment, built a state-of-the-art children and youth facility and much more...

PRAYER GUIDE

Follow our prayer guide and lets agree in prayer together.

WEEK ONE | March 20th - March 26th
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

This passage of scripture teaches us the wisdom in using effective prayer in our daily lives. In this particular chapter Jesus goes on to say that of course parents desire to give their children good gifts, and the things they that they need. If a child asks for a sandwich, a father doesn’t give them a rock for dinner instead. In the same way, God wants to give us what we ask for. Wisdom comes from knowing that we have to ask. In other words, prayer is the key that unlocks the door. As we enter into this next month in preparation for Liberty Offering, let’s determine to ASK our Father to open up avenues of financial increase, opportunity, and ideas that will help everyone be able to participate. Let’s pray!

WEEK TWO | March 27th – April 2nd
And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Philemon 1:6

Generosity is not something that we can show through any other means but our actions. In fact, “good intentions” is the term we use to describe someone who has, in fact, not been generous at all. Liberty Offering challenges us to not just have good intentions, but rather to actually DO something. Paul reminds us that this should be easy for a believer to do if they truly understand all we have been given by God. Pray this week that people will move beyond good intentions and into the place of generous giving by making whatever preparations and sacrifices needed in order to do so.

WEEK THREE | April 3rd – April 9th
How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds. James 2:18

James challenges the believer to prove their faith, but he also encourages others to check his faith as well by examining his works. One of the key ways that we prove our faith and trust in God is through our giving. We first have to trust God to provide for our needs. Secondly it involves sacrifice when it comes to Liberty Offering. There is a difference between our actual needs and our desires. Pray this week that all of us would rise to a new level of sacrificial giving as prove our faith. Proving our faith isn’t something we do for others, it is something we do for ourselves. There is no greater feeling in the world than that of knowing our generosity has matched our beliefs when we prove it in our giving.

WEEK FOUR | April 10th – April 16th
Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. 2 Corinthians 8:11

Paul’s teaching in this chapter tells us that our giving should come from a willing mind and heart. He tells us that all giving hinges on what our underlying motives are. Generous giving comes from a willing mind and heart because we remember the price Jesus paid for our salvation. Paul exhorts the believers to stir up and refresh the eagerness of spirit and heart, the gratefulness that we felt when we first became believers. The appreciation, the excitement and the happiness that results will be reflected in our generous and joyful giving towards Liberty Offering.

Testimonies

A team offering. A vision offering. A generous offering. A liberty offering.

Last year my two sons were very excited to be taking part of Liberty Offering, well mostly decorating the bottles, not cracking open the piggy banks. However, after weeks of preperation for the day, the older son led in leadership by giving a good chunk of his savings, which were to go towards quite the toy! The younger son, who was 5 at the time, decided that he would give a dollar the morning of church, and was challenged by his older brother to give more, because he was giving it to God and he couldn't out-give God! As parents we shared with our son to give what he knows in his heart he would like to give, one dollar or more. Well low and behold, without anyone knowing that he had changed his mind....it was time for the kids to come up to the front with thier offerrings and there was our 5 year old, with his piggy bank, full to the brim and laying it down at the altar! Completely trusting God, on his own time in his own personal way! Wow! what a beautiful thing to have witnessed! He walked away from that stage a different boy, a little taller, wiser, and closer to his heavenly father. Not surprised after that day, over the next few weeks he was the grand prize winner at church in the name drawings, had several blessings come his way in lue of gifts, candy, toys and even strangers were buying him stuff at the store. His response everytime was GOD IS ALWAYS BLESSING ME! What a great testimony of how we cannot out-give God, and how he always takes care of his children!

My husband and I have been coming to Champion Centre for about 6 or so years, we have enjoyed coming to your Saturday night services because it works the best with our schedules. We have two girls who go to class every Saturday night when we come. They enjoy class very much and they can't wait till Saturday night comes around. The lessons they learn in class and the values they take with them make me feel very thankful to you that we are planted here and that we found you as a church. Most recently, my older daughter has been showing more interest in her class than ever. She was given a liberty offering box that she has decorated with a Nativity scene and made a list of chores that she is willing to do for family members or neighbors to earn money so she can give. She also has an autobiography and collage due in school and she wanted us to print off a couple pictures from online. One of those pictures was a picture of our pastor, Pastor Kevin and a picture of the name and logo from the church. This made me so very proud that her church means so much to her that she would want to take that to school and tell everyone about the church she goes to.

I would like to take this time to say Thank you. Coming to this church has changed our family and we have received so many blessings and my children love coming and I am very grateful for that. You guys make this a very friendly and welcoming environment. You guys are very accommodating, because we are not always able to sit in the sanctuary and because of you we are able to sit in the lobby and hear the same message as those who sit inside. Little things like that make Champion Centre such a great place to be and I thank you so much.

Ok, so as you know this year's liberty offering was tough for many of us with the state of the economy and all, so I spent a lot of time trying to decide the right amount to give this year. On Liberty Offering day, I came to church with a number in mind. It was a stretch, but I was prepared to do it. Then during Pastor's message, I just felt like God was telling me to stretch further and give some more, so I pledged an additional $500. Then just this Thursday my roommate told me she was moving out on Saturday, which stressed me out because I wasn't prepared for it. on Sunday, I had to write my check for the additional money for Liberty Offering. It was tough, but I did it and told God I was trusting him to take care of me. This morning, I got my mail, and I had a $1000 check for an overage in my escrow account! Isn't God amazing! I was really struggling with the roommate situation and all, and God just sent me a friendly reminder that He is taking care of me ALWAYS!

G'day Pastor Kevin,

I wanted to send you a personal testimony on how we (Paula and I) have been blessed through participating in liberty offering.

We were new to Champions Centre and a bit confused on tithing and offerings. We had never tithed before, but knew that it was important for us to begin and that in doing this God would bless us. When we heard of liberty offering and how exciting it is, we were a little cautious on how much we could give. Without my knowledge, Paula gave $200.00 which I thought that was a lot, but she said it was what we could afford to give. Well two weeks later we received a deposit of $2000.00 into our checking account from a close relative who wanted to bless us. We knew that was Gods blessing and rejoiced thinking how great is our God! Then last year we were on vacation in Italy during liberty offering. I was a bit disappointed that we were away for this but were told we could give online and it would be counted. We gave an offering of $500.00 and thanked the Lord we were able to do so. I laughed to myself and thought “if we gave $200 last year and received $2000 in return, then maybe $500 would net $5000”. Well 'oh my gosh', we came home and found we had received a check for $8000.00!

Pastor Kevin, please know that we did not give to receive and we know that’s not how it works, but mate that was just awesome. We cannot wait for this years’ liberty offering to be a blessing to the church.
Thank you for all the great things that you do we sure do love our church home and family. You sure do know how to speak and minister into peoples lives and i think that the number of salvations sure do speak to that. Thank you so much!

Kids

10 Keys to Raising Generous Kids. Here's some way to get your kids involved and encourage them to give.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he gets older he will not depart from it."

- Let them help you prepare your giving envelope each week
- Teach them how to tithe on their birthday money, allowance, etc.
- Demonstrate generosity in front of your kids at the store, at home, etc.
- Help your kids memorize a generosity verse that your family adopts each year
- Volunteer cheerfully and live a life of generous gestures
- Teach your children to say “please” and “thank you”
- Reward your kids when you catch them being generous in gesture and words
- Teach your children to share
- Develop and encourage ways for your children to earn money
- Be part of supporting world missions and outreach

Build a Box
This year, Champion Kidz ministry has issued a challenge to kids to “Build a Box” for their Liberty Offering container. In past years, kids were given pop bottles and then emptied, cleaned, and decorated them into banks. This year, our theme is “Generous”, so kids can get creative in whatever ways they want to create a giving box. Children will bring back their boxes for Liberty Weekend services on May 1st & 2nd. The goal is for them to fill their box up with a generous offering, and to create a champion giving box. Prizes will be awarded for best effort, not only in decorating, but also in raising funds for each age group. The Champion Kidz ministry benefits from Liberty Offering each year as we seek to maintain our facilities and to upgrade areas that need help.
